Working-Women-Women-Do-A-LotWomen do a lot, I mean a lot!!!  Make a list of all the things you do for your family, then make a list of all the things you do for yourself.  If the latter is very short, it is time for you to focus on yourself.  We are expert multitaskers, so multitask some Me-time into your schedule.   Below are some self-suggestions that will make you feel great.

Dinner and a show with your girlfriends!  One recent Saturday night, a group of friends and I went to see Mala at the Calderwood Pavillion. After the show, we had a delicious dinner at Masa.  During this 4 hour time we laughed, we cried, we shared stories about our lives, got to know each other better, had delicious meals, shared contacts with each other and bonded.  When I came home I was relaxed, energized and feeling great.  Think about what you can do with your friends once a month to just enjoy something special!

Beauty Treatments

Beauty-TreatmentsLadies, you know we like to look good and feel good!  When 2018 rolled around I decided to focus on monthly beauty treatments as a way to ensure that I was taking care of the skin I am in.  I schedule my treatments way in advance. I see them as an appointment with myself that I cannot cancel.  Bring on the massages, facials, pedis, manis and body scrubs.  When we take care of ourselves we can take better care of our families, because we feel better.  When Mama is happy, everybody is happy.  Find your favorite spa, hire a sitter if you need one and book yourself a spa day and get it all done!

Exercise & Healthy Eating & Mental H

Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror after a workout?  We look radiant and happy (a little sweaty) but beautiful! Exercise helps your body fight off illnesses like heart disease.  A good workout makes your body look and feel amazing.  If you are not a member of a local gym, recreation center or YMCA, join one and commit to an attainable goal of getting fit!

Our diets are also important.  The foods you love to eat can be made healthy by altering the recipe.  You don’t have to deprive yourself of your favorite chocolate cake, just eat a small piece and not every day!  Moderation is key, not deprivation.   Try out one of these recipe books for healthy eating: http://www.cookinglight.com/cooking-101/resources/best-healthy-cookbooks#new-mediterranean-diet-cookbook

Relationships and Getting Happy and Meditation, Oh My!

Meditation-AppsOur relationships with our partners, family, and friends are very important.   Being happy keeps us young and alive longer. Removing toxic people and situations from our lives is challenging but you will feel better for having done it!  You are in control of your own happiness, do what needs to be done to maintain and attain your happy!

Technology is a big part of our society now, how can we use it to make us feel better, happier, and calmer?  Meditation Apps!  Check out some of the apps that are available to help you meditate.  You can do it in 15 minutes or less a day.  I have been successful in meditation by using one of the apps at bedtime!  I fall asleep quicker and feel calmer when I wake up.   Currently, I use Insight Timer.  I have tried Headspace and I like it.  I also want to checkout Happify, Simply Being and Buddhify.

All of this is to let you know that you should love yourself first and there is no better time to start than today.
