How You Can Continue to Grow as a Person
First of all, what do we mean when we talk about "growing as a person?" It's one of those things that people talk about without properly defining.
The simplest definition of growth would be physical growth and development.
You know, you're born, you grow into a child, then a teenager, then finally when you're about twenty-five or so, you stop cooking and you're officially a fully-fledged adult. The quarter-life crisis that a lot of people go through at this point is optional, of course.
As you grow into adulthood, you will (hopefully) learn. You go through school, college, apprenticeships, vocational courses, and whatever other education you need in order to find a career and a way to support yourself.
Build Good Friendships
When you were a kid, making friends was simply a matter of convenience. This kid sat next to you in class, and bam, they were your friend. Adulthood is a little more complicated. You can lose friends as you get older and grow apart, and finding new friends isn't easy.
The thing is, we need friends. Humans, yes even introverts, are naturally social creatures. Having friends is a vital part of emotional and mental health.
So, how can you make friends? And how can you keep them?
First, you're going to have to get out into the world and speak to people. If you have hobbies, find other people who share those interests. Branch out, and make an effort.
Then, it's up to you to maintain those friendships. It sounds obvious, but spend time with your friends. Do things together, and whatever you do, have fun.
Adult Education
We've mentioned education as a child, but what about when you're all grown up? That's where we start talking about adult education.
There are no rules for taking adult education courses. The important thing is to learn.
You can take courses to further your career. You can take courses to change your career. Or you can take courses to expand your hobbies, general life skills, or whatever else you want to discover.
Art and Culture
Speaking of broadening your horizons, let's discuss art and culture.
This covers a hilarious amount of options, ranging from art galleries and museums to concerts, shows, and exhibitions.
For example, the Woodstock Museum can immerse you in the recent history of the 1960s and the movements that took place. Or you can go to the theatre with your friends, covering two bases at the same time.
But it doesn't really matter what you're interested in, as long as you find some way to enrich yourself and grow into a more interesting person.
Nobody wants to look back at their life and regret missing out on anything. So get out there, enjoy yourself, and improve who you are.
