Mamaleh’s Delicatessen

Mamaleh's: a Yiddish word which is a term of endearment for a young child.  Also a modern era Jewish Delicatessen in Kendall Square, Cambridge opened in Summer 2016.

I had a fattoush salad, a pastrami sandwich, and a special ginger and lemon mocktail made just for me.

I couldn’t describe my experience at Mamaleh’s better than its website, “Delicatessen smells, tastes and even the word itself may put a smile on your face.  We hope when you walk through our front doors that your smile widens, your nostrils flare, and you sidle up to a counter stool or sink into a booth and sink your teeth into a hand sliced pastrami sandwich, half-sour pickle, warming matzah ball soup or a beautiful fresh take on a deli salad. We welcome you to join us for a quick meal or a nosh, an old-fashioned soda, egg cream or a milkshake. Visit with an old friend over a cocktail at the bar or make a new one.” Mamaleh’s

“At Mamaleh’s the bagels and bialys are homemade; the pastrami and brisket are brined, smoked, and roasted the old-fashioned way. “Bon Appetit!

Breakfast, lunch, dinner or Brunch, the food at this Jewish (but not Kosher) delicatessen is so good with a generous portion that you can expect a line so plan accordingly, especially Brunch time and weekends.

In a warm atmosphere with an excellent service, you are insured to have a great time. Try the bagel chips and home-made cream cheese. Enjoy a challah french toast, a Pastrami sandwich on Rye, a cup of matzo ball soup, or their daily specials.

It’s a great experience whether solo at the bar, in a couple or in a family with kids. The staff is friendly and efficient.

This hybrid restaurant-market selections evolve as seasons change. They feature local produce, New England cheeses, farm fresh eggs and dairy, house-made specialties prepared from the very best local ingredients, daily meal selections.

A place for a great experience in a relaxed and casual environment. I like to have lunch on the patio in warm weather. I recommend the Hot Pastrami Rachel and the Roast Turkey & Bacon on the Lunch Menu.
